Dr. Jean-François Lanthier studied agronomy at the Macdonald Campus of the McGill University between 1982 and 1984. He obtained his doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1988 from the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire de l’Université de Montréal. Since then, he has been working at the Ormstown Veterinary Hospital. For many years now, he has been giving conferences to farmers, agronomists and veterinarians on different subjects such as reproduction, mastitis, calf care, nutrition, as well as preventative medicine.
During his career, he has contributed to the development of ultrasound on the farm and to the DSA herd health software. His main interests are preventative herd medicine, surgery, and improvement of dairy herd performance. In June 2019, he completed a DHMCP certificate (Dairy Herd Management Certificate Program) at the University of Guelph.
